Another Battle Against the Elements at Black Bear — Welch Claims His 7th Weekenders Title

Weekenders,

Our third event of the season is in the books, and once again, Mother Nature didn’t make it easy for us.

Black Bear Golf Club served up a serious challenge this past Sunday. Cold air, relentless wind—sometimes a two-club factor—and brutally undulating greens tested every part of our games. The course played harder than we've seen in years past, and the leaderboard reflected it. Nobody had an easy walk.

Congratulations to Tom Welch, who posted a net 73 (+1) to take home his 7th career Weekenders victory. Tom handled the tough conditions better than anyone, managing both the swirling wind and the tricky greens with solid course management. He edged out rookie Zack Seres, who put up a strong net 76 to finish as runner-up.

The day wasn’t just about golf either—Rico Pasamba had a close encounter with an Eastern Black Rat Snake after a ball landed just a couple feet from it. That’s a first for the Weekenders, and a moment we’ll be talking about for a long time.

Three events in, and three cold, windy Sundays behind us. The season is off to a gritty start, but that’s what makes this league special: you show up, you battle, and you compete no matter the conditions.

Thanks again to everyone who made it out. We'll see you at the next one — hopefully with a little less wind... and fewer snakes.
