Spotlight
History Keeps Growing
Jeff Matvienko’s win at Flanders Blue-White was not just another Sunday result. It was career win number 18, extending his spot at the top of the Weekenders event wins list and adding another chapter to one of the club’s longest-running records.
The round also showed how tight the season remains behind him. Stephen George finished just one shot back, while Jae Kim shared low gross honors with Matvienko at 79. On a course where positioning mattered and mistakes were not exactly forgiven by the golf gods, the leaderboard stayed close enough to make every missed putt feel personal.
The record book is starting to move with every event now. Career wins, low gross marks, CTP totals, and season standings are all getting new entries as the summer stretch continues. That is the fun part of this point in the year: every round is no longer just a score, it is evidence.
From the President
“Congratulations once again to Jeff Matvienko on another outstanding victory.”
Eighteen career wins is a remarkable accomplishment, and it’s a record that continues to raise the bar for everyone in the club. Well played, Jeff.
Now our attention turns to what many consider the biggest two days of the season.
In less than 2 weeks, we head to Shawnee Golf Resort in Shawnee-on-Delaware, Pennsylvania, for Round 1 of the Weekenders Club Championship. Designed by legendary architect A.W. Tillinghast, Shawnee is one of the country’s historic golf venues. Much of the course sits on an island in the Delaware River, creating a unique setting where tree-lined fairways, classic architecture, and strategic shot-making reward patience and precision over power. It’s the kind of course where smart decisions often matter more than long drives.
The Club Championship is our premier major. Two rounds, two opportunities, and no room for a slow start. Every shot counts toward crowning the 2026 Club Champion, so come prepared and ready to compete.
Please remember to register by next Tuesday night so pairings and tee times can be finalized.
