What the Weekenders is

The Weekenders are a private men’s golf club built around competitive Sunday golf. Founded in 1972, the club plays a real season — singles and team match play, low-net events, majors, playoffs, and championships — with honest handicaps and a record book that goes back decades. Players who find us are often looking for a competitive Sunday golf league in New Jersey and want something more organized than a casual weekend group — a real season with standings and championships, but without a country-club membership.

It is members-first and selective, but it is not stuffy. The best part, for most members, is the people: real rivalries, good groups, and friendships that outlast any one season.

Is it a good fit?

The Weekenders tend to be a strong fit for golfers who have:

• Reliable Sunday availability through the season — this is a Sunday club
• Familiarity with a GHIN handicap and honest scoring
• A competitive but social attitude — you want to compete and enjoy the group
• Pace-conscious play and respect for golf etiquette

Our roster spans a wide handicap range, so you do not need to be a scratch player. You do need to enjoy competing, show up on time, keep an honest score, and be part of the group.

Membership and guest play

Full-time membership is limited, and the club fills it with golfers who fit the group, so we can’t promise an open spot at any given time — this is not open enrollment.

That said, guest and sub opportunities open up over the season when a spot is available, and that is often the most natural way to get a feel for the club before pursuing full membership.
